VKTC Results Day 2
Keiron Perrow carving it up at the VKTC
Day 2 of the 2012 Volcom Kirra Teams Challenge saw another great day of surf, sun & fanatic board riding clubs gathered at Duranbah beach to cheer on their competing members.
Recently crowned Pipe Master Kieren Perrow kicked off proceedings early in the day powering to a heat victory for Byron Bay Boardriders. In clean 2 to 4 ft peaky waves Perrow unleashed a bevy of forehand moves to accrue a heat winning total of 11.93. As the day progressed the intensity also increased with Wade Carmichael form Avoca netting the day’s highest individual wave score of 9.7 and combined total of 18.2.
Other standouts on Day 2 were Brent Dorrington (16.83) and Jack Freestone (16.23) both surfing for D’bah who after winning their respective heats were chaired up the beach by their clubmates. At the completion of Round 6, D’bah Boardriders were leading the comp from North End, Avoca, Long Reef and Snapper. Mathematically any of the top nine competing clubs after round 6 can still win the event depending on final results but the winner is more than likely come from the current top 5.
A quality day of finals action is expected tomorrow with World Tour surfers Mick Fanning representing Kirra Surfriders (currently 13th) and Bede Durbidge from Point Lookout (currently 22nd) hitting the water. The event can be followed live on this website at /vktc-live-scoring/.
Competition will conclude tomorrow, Sunday 19th February at 2.30pm with the finals presentation to be held at Rainbow Bay Surf Club from 4.30pm.
